Problems, Excuses, and Carelessness

If you go and ask your average-everyday middle schooler if they get too much homework from their teachers, your answer would probably be YES! Really, the teachers give reasonable amounts out to students but since there are students that say yes I get too much homework, there is a problem with that. Usually students claim they have “ too much” homework so they show up to school the next day with homework that was assigned not finished, and teachers get excuses after excuses. Since I am a middle schooler, I think that Teachers sometimes give out too much homework. For other students, I think they might think there is also a lot of homework because either struggling on something and it’s taking them hours to finish, or they just have sports activities to go do but they can’t go because they didn’t finish their homework yet.
In this world today, there are different types of kids. In schools, there are also different types of kids, different personalities and everyone is unique in their own way. When it comes down to education, there are mostly two different types of kids. That is, careless and struggling. Kids that are careless really have many reasons why they are “careless” and those “reasons” are just excuses. For kids that have problems, they actually do have reasons.
As students today only care to understand is that the receive TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!! For kids that are careless, they get all bad grades and they won’t care. By this happening, it just makes parents, teachers, and also kids jobs harder. Especially now a days with all these sports activities and kids making plans, takes time out of their studies. Maybe if the state has a rule that they won’t allow kids that get a C or below on their report cards play sports, it would probably make kids understand that they have responsibilities.
On the other hand, there are actually kids that have problems and they just can’t finish their homework because they have a wall blocking them to have success in finishing. This means that teachers need to spend time with their students and teach them new skills. If students learn different ways, they would hopefully adapt to these changes and life would be easier for them.
Finally, if we all come together to overcome these things, we will all be much happier and we would be all smarter but also more responsible and everything would be easier so we don’t have TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!

Kris Kringle OR Saint Nick?

As you were little, there’s a thing that every little kid believes in, when Christmas Day comes. Yes, that is Santa Claus. Christmas day is a day where our spirits are high and everyone is just very happy. As you get to an age, you start noticing that during the month that Christmas is in (December) there are Christmas songs playing on the radio and Christmas movies start coming on t.v. One of the very famous Christmas movies out is. Miracle on 34th Street. In that movie, that Santa Claus is called Kris Kringle but before that movie came out, everyone just believed that Santa Claus’ real name is Saint Nick.
    All around the globe, there are different names for this believable person but we just have no right name. Strongly, people think that Santa Claus’ name is Saint Nick. And I believe that that is his name because that is the name that I have been thinking that is his real name every since I was little and able to understand things. I also, thought that was the ONLY name out there. People have reasons why the could think that Santa’s name is Saint nick because Saint’s are very nice and Santa is believed to be the Jolliest man alive. Another reason is, every since this holiday started, Saint Nick has been Santa’s name. Not Kris Kringle, Not Frosty the Snowman just plain old Saint Nick.

There are also some theories that Kris Kringle can be the name of Santa Claus. If you have seen the movie Miracle On 34th street, you would understand clearly why Kris Kringle. In this movie, Kris Kringle is the Santa Claus but still people debate on why his name is Kris Kringle and not Saint Nick. This movie is a great Christmas movie but also i would say that some people have something to say badly about it because it is not Saint Nick!!

    To this very day people wonder what his real name is and so do I, but we accept the fact that there is a Santa Claus and a Christmas Day.

   

Dear Santa!!

I realize that the months are flying by so quickly and my favorite holiday is coming very soon. For this Christmas instead of getting billions of toys like a spoiled little brat, I just want this one thing in particular. This one thing would be a purple iPod Nano the fourth generation. Also, I know that every kid that doesn’t get a piece of coal and is on the good list, has one wish and that is my wish that I hope gets to become true.

    The iPod that I have this very moment is the iPod shuffle. This iPod only can hold up to a capacity of 4GB, which is not enough for me to put ALL my music too. I would like the Nano that has 8GB because it lets me expand on my music choices and the variety of different genres I can listen to. This can help me in a way because it won’t make my brain fried by listening to the same exact songs repeatedly.

    If I get this iPod as a present, It won’t just make me happy but it will also make my mother happy because she won’t be annoyed about how I listen to the same things. By me getting this iPod, won’t change my life or the way the globe goes round, but it just may have an effect on me. People may think this is ridiculous and outrageous but to me, I just want this one thing, more than anything in the world.

    I know that your job on this day is very hard and you may not be able to deliver this but please make it one of your priorities to give me this ONE gift!

Thanksgiving Fiesta!!!

Every Thanksgiving, I celebrate this event on the fourth Thursday which also happens every year. Traditonaly, I would spend the Thanksgiving Day with my mom's side of the family and we would all gather together at my Uncle's/Great Grandfathers house. But Ever since this summer since my Great Grandfather pasted away, Now my family is celebrating Thanksgiving at my Grandma's house. In my family, we take thanksgiving as a day to give thanks for things we have, Family members and watch the Thanksgiving Day parade on TV. On thanksgiving we have various types of foods and pies (yummy!). While we celebrate we hang out with Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, Grandchildren, Sisters, Brothers, Uncles, Aunts, and of course our Parents. Thats what my Family does every Thanksgiving day.

One thing that I am grateful for is, Family. Family is  important to me, because not only am I always with them and sometimes they annoy me,  but that they are always there for me. I’m grateful for having a family because if you think about it, not everybody has a family. Also, some people in the world take their families for granted which in my opinion is bad at times because you’re abusing them. So I am very fortunate to have a Family that is Loving, Caring, Helping and most importantly, family like.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Went the noise of me hitting the bathroom door. Do you have a sister? Well instead of me having a older sister, I have a younger sister! It is just a joyful time having a six year old sister…. NOT!

   Today, I had to go get ready for my Best Friends Birthday party which was happening in less than an hour. All I wanted to do is get ready and leave so I would be on time. Guess what?! It didn’t happen!

   

      My little sister Deanna was in the bathroom. She closed the door and locked it!! What could she possibly be doing that would take sooo long?

       “DEANNA!!!!! What are you doing? Come on’! I have to get in there!” I yelled to my sister, with three more knocks on the door.

  “Jaz, I’m just putting on make-up….” Deanna said.

         “For what?” I queried.

 “For my boyfriend duhhh.” Deanna said sarcastically.

  I couldn’t believe she even said that! What boyfriend could she possibly have at the age 6?

 “What Boyfriend?!” I said with an edge to my voice.

 “Justin Bieber. Where have you been Jaz?” Deanna responded.

   Oh no. Not Justin Bieber again! Ever since he became famous, my little sister, got a serious case of Bieber Fever, and so far, I’m regretting when I first showed her him.

 Finally! She opened the door. As she opened the door, it felt as if freedom hit me. When I looked at my sister’s face, my mouth dropped and I was in a state of shock.

 “What did you do to yourself?” I asked, looking dead at her now.

 “I told you already!! I prettied myself up for Justin Bieber.” Deanna said with a annoying ring to her voice.

 I looked at her now, with a face that was just in disgust. Out of all the little sisters in the world, how come I got this one? Especially one that’s obsessed with Justin Bieber? She wasn’t going to see him anyway! I don’t get her at all!

 So as I was looking at her, she looked a mess! (No offense to her).

  Only my sister would probably do this. She had one eye with purple eye shadow, another with blue eye shadow! She had on a bubble- gum pink lipstick on with a vanilla frosting lip smackers lip gloss on over the lipstick to add a shine.

 I couldn’t believe what was in front of my eyes! I mean she looked like she was trying to be a clown, so she could join the circus! She was OFFICIALLY crazy now.

 Instead of me waiting time, saying many weird things about her face, I kicked her out of the bathroom doorway and began laughing, I closed the door and locked it which made me laugh even more because she couldn’t get back in. “I got ready even faster that I was expecting to! I only had like 20 minutes left. Of course I was going to be late to this party all because of my sister.

        When I got out, U was done! I was ready. I walked out and passed my sister who was in front of the TV watching Justin Bieber. I giggled but managed to keep walking.

               3o minutes later………..

 10 minutes had passed in the party and considering what happened before. I thought I got there a little bit early. After I said hi to my friend I gave her, her present. I watched her open the gift. It was supposed to only be $50.00 but it had a Justin Bieber poster also!! Under my breath, I said, “Annoyance.”

Does patriotism still matter?

         Does Patriotism Still Matter? 

To some people Patriotism doesn’t matter. To MOST people it does matter. Patriotism to me is basically everything and that’s what the United States of America is all about. On every Veteran’s day, people let out tears, people let out tears, a lot of applause, and happy faces were shown to millions of Family and Friends. This one day is celebrated to honor people that were in wars, or was in the service.

One question that people ask: Does Patriotism still mater? My answer: Yes it does!!!!Patriotism reminds me of bravery, 4th of July, the American flag, freedom, sacrifice and many more, Also, many of the words that I thought of about were significant words that are representing these soldiers or celebrating them.

When I think about Patriotism, it reminds me of my family. How? I think family because many of my family members were in the service and fought. One unforgettable person that is in my family and was in World War two is my Great-Grandfather. Sadly over this summer (2010) he died of old age. He lived to be 104 years old. Many people don’t come hat fare in life and accomplish that many things.

Lastly, Patriotism does matter and there are many things that show patriotism around the world. One huge this is respect. Respect should be shown everywhere. Not just to this person and that person but to everyone and even to thoughs who put their life’s in danger, just too safe America and its people.

Marshfield Dreams

This week in English,we started reading passages of a book name Marshfield Dreams by Ralph Fletcher.While we were reading this,We picked out 3 things that stood out the most to us.These are the ones that I thought were good.......

"Bobby"(Fletcher, 2005,page 59)I picked first.In this little part of the book,He explains how his little brother Booby was important to him in many ways,what happend to him, and what Bobby would do to get his attention. In the short story about Bobby,He wrote,  "Bobby never got the chance to grow up.In his last year of high school he was killed in a car accident." Just reading that little snippet it was emotional because I know if they happend to my little sister I would be devastated.

In the next thing I picked,It was called "First Pen"(Fletcher,2005,page 43).This was about how he got is first pen (as explained in the title) and he basicly treasured it.The part that I picked out was, "Still,I loved it in school we wrote in pencil,so putting inked words into a piece of paper really made me feel grown-up" This reminds me of how in 4th grade when we finally got to use pens,I felt more mature too.

The last passage I picked was "Last Kiss" (Fletcher,2005.page 84).In this,It was telling how he felt that him and his father where growing apart but for a certain reason. this is the part that I picked... "Even though I was confused,one thing seemed clear-my father and I had drifted away from each other in a small but important way,a way that I couldn't explain,not even to myself." In this part,I fet sympathy towards the author and it actualy caught my attention when he was explainging about the jelly-fishes because at first I had no complete clue what he was talking about.

My Special Object-My Teddy Bear

The object that is very most importanly special to me is my Teddy Bear.This paticulary thing is memoriable in soo many ways and it is very special.This is memoriable because before my poppa (grandfather) passed away,the christmas before that happend,He had given me this Teddy  Bear.Yea back then I thought it was preety pointless but now as the years passed on,I realized that this has a meaning.The most memoriable memory that I have of me and my Teddy Bear is that christmas when I first got it.That moment sticks out the most because thats when the Teddy Bear was new,wasnt worn out and torn up,and when my poppa handed it to me.

     This was speacial to me because it was a present and when my poppa gave it to me i knew that my grandparents didnt have much money then and for me to just get one thing,I was very lucky.Lastly,I would never forget those things I just listed because those are things that I will cherish for a lifetime.

Good Grades!!! :)

Now that I have diffrent teachers for mostly every subject,In some of my classes we had test and quizes.The scores that I have recieved back are high up to what I would usually get and I was amazed and suprised.And since I got good grades,I have gotten over my fear of getting back a failure.

New School

Ever since September 1st,I entered a new school called Herbert Hoover Middle School.So far I've enjoyed everything such as,the fact that you get a new locker,and you get a variety of lunch food.The only thing that I am worried about is getting good grades on the test and quizes.
